Tsubame BHB has started research and development of ammonia cracking

Publish :
4 Sep 2024

Tsubame BHB has been selected along with the Tokyo Institute of Technology (R&D representative) and Kyushu University (joint research agency) for the Energy Conversion and Energy Storage Area, a new R&D field in the 2024 Strategic Basic Research Program ALCA-Next (Advanced Technologies for Carbon-Neutral) hosted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The goal of this research is to create precious-metal-free, high-functioning catalysts that use nitrogen flaws in nitrites as a reaction field, and to develop energy-saving ammonia cracking systems.

Through this research, Tsubame BHB will contribute to the effective use of low-cost renewable energy, and to the development of a hydrogen society.

Outline of research:

  • R&D theme: Innovative ammonia cracking using flaws as a reaction field
  • R&D representative: Prof. Masaaki Kitano; Tokyo Institute of Technology, MDX Research Center for Element Strategy
  • Main joint researcher: Koji Nakamura; Representative Director and CEO, Tsubame BHB
  • Main joint researcher: Shuntaro Tsubaki; Associate Professor, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Kyushu University
