ZET-summit 2025 an event where attendees could learn about the latest research in decarbonization technology and the efforts of startup companies, was held in Muko City, Kyoto Prefecture, from February 4th to 5th, 2025. The event was packed with interesting lectures and sessions and was also broadcast simultaneously on YouTube. In particular, the dialogue between Mr. Akira Yoshino (who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2019 for the development of lithium-ion secondary batteries) and Kyoto Governor Takatoshi Nishiwaki was the highlight of the event. In addition, not only startups from Kyoto but also decarbonization-related companies gathered, and matching events and other activities were held.

Uchiyama, from Tsubame BHB Co., Ltd. had pitched at the event, introduced about the company and company’s core technology called “Electride Catalyst,”which is a research result of Institute of Science Tokyo, to small-scale distributed ammonia plants, and provides on-site ammonia production to the world. At the event he proposed a package of hydrogen electrolyzers and nitrogen generators, and advocate for green ammonia production to the audience as well.

Conventional ammonia synthesis uses fossil fuels as raw materials and is synthesized under high temperature and pressure, but the Electride Catalyst is suitable for synthesis under low temperature and pressure. Therefore, because it is suitable for downsizing plant sizes, it can contribute to decentralizing ammonia production, and consequently fertilizer production, which is concentrated in oil-producing countries, thereby reducing transportation costs and CO2 emissions during transport. Furthermore, by promoting the production of green ammonia, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions in the ammonia production process.
